P-A-R-K-E-R

So after much searching and seeking and hemming and hawing and backing and forthing, we finally got a house in Panama. Finally. I, certainly, feel better about this. Rob has assured me he's "relieved" as well, although I fear I was the one most obssessing about this decision. And no easy decision it was.

The Canal Zone where Rob works, and we have now found a house, is former American Military land that was handed back to Panama in 1999. Houses are very American-like and there aren't very many of them spread out amongst the green space bordering the canal. Because of this demand is high and supply is low, which means rents are steep and some landlords have gotten away with not doing much to improve housing that was orginally built in the 1950s. All this accumulated in a prolonged and slightly painful housing search.

But the search is over, we will now call the Canal Zone home and will be living on...are you ready for it....PARKER DRIVE. P-A-R-K-E-R. Not Avenida Balboa or Calle Boqueron...nope none of that Spanish language stuff for us...Parker Drive, it is. Hmmm. This is embarrassing. I feel like we're moving to Ohio. Or Saskatchewan.

Oh well. It is what it is. Rob will have a three minute walk to work and Parker Drive will soon feel like home. Fingers crossed.
