We just got back from a mini-vacation to an all inclusive resort here in Panama. It was the first time we've ever been to an all inclusive and Rob and I remembered the days when we were the "back packing" types and thumbed our noses at anyone caught dead with an all inclusive mentality. Well, I'm here to say we've happily crossed to the other side. We didn't know what we were missing. Such fools we were.
We ate. We swam. We ate. We swam. (I would say that we slept, but we have a two year old that likes to wake at 5am). That about sums up our 3 days. At the end, we looked exactly like Max in the above photo. (The new slideshow is a result of our eating and swimming adventure...)

It DOES look beautiful! I'm the same - I have moved on a bit from the backpacking lifestyle, but totally used to be snobby about it, like you. 'Staying in a resort, that's not a real vacation', we'd say. Now although sometimes we stay in cheap guest houses if they are clean and have character, we usually stay in comfortable hotels with a/c, pools, good food, tv, etc. I guess we were just fooling ourselves before, just because we didn't have money for more than a $5 bed at a backpackers. ;)
You can actually go in the water... looks warmer than Green Bay in Nova Scotia! The resort looks beautiful!

I think all-inclusives are the best. We have our favorite, "Crown Paradise" in Cancun. They take kids from 6 months onwards as they have a babysitting and kids club, so parents can go to the adult pool and have FUN! Love it.
